Treehouse summary

Built by the owner, Peter , and his friends, this wooden hut on stilts offers plenty of living space, making it the perfect vacation spot for a maximum of eight people. And due to its wrap-around balcony and large picture windows, those who stay here will have an unparalleled view of the forest outside and an unlimited access to nature and all its glory.

All the furniture in Stelzenhaus is made of cherry wood and so it is quite sturdy. And though it is indeed quite rustic in every sense of the word, the living area is very comfortable and warm. There are fluffy rugs on the floor, a cast-iron stove that provides heat even during cold winter nights, and cushy beds that will ensure you sleep wonderfully all throughout the night.

Without question, this wooden cabin is the ideal place for people who are seeking a one-of-a-kind living experience that can’t be found in the city. In here, you’ll find a sense of solitude and tranquility unlike any other.

Treehouse description

Though quite simple, Stelzenhaus really doesn’t compromise on safety and comfort. The cabin has all the necessary amenities needed for a hassle-free stay such as electricity, a heater, and very cozy beds which are found in the living area and up on the loft. Meanwhile, since the treehouse is very close to the Waldbar, those staying in this cabin can use the toilets there. The showers on the other hand are available anytime at the Berlepsch Castle which is 150 meters away from Stelzenhaus. But still, it is available all day long and is only about a hundred meters away.

With regards to dining in at the Stelzenhaus, there's a dining hall out on the grounds that provides a mouth-watering breakfast buffet made from all the freshest local products and which can be eaten there or in the treehouse itself. Also, there is a Waldbar where lunch or dinner can be ordered upon request, as well as delicious breads and pastries, coffee and tea, and organic lemonades, beer, and wine.

How to get there

From Witzenhausen, head northwest on Hinter den Teichhöfen and then take the L3238 to Berlepsche. From there, take the slight right onto Mündener Street and turn right again onto An der Linde. After so, take the left turn to Hübenthaler Street and continue on the L3238 and when you see a right turn, take it. Follow this road until you reach a fork in the road. Keep right and then make another right towards Berlepsch. Once there, Stelzenhaus will be on the left.

About the area

Though the Stelzenhaus is pretty far from civilization, it is in the vicinity of great tourist and scenic spots that offers a number of activities. So if you’re planning to stay here, you will never run out of things to do. For starters, you can visit the Berlepsch Castle which is one of the most beautiful castles in Hesse, Germany. In here, you can check out the 1000-year old ruins and the museum, as well as the restaurant that is home to many fine delicacies and drinks. Also, you can go horseback riding through the forest with your family and friends. The horses and ponies are all well-trained so you’ll never have a problem with safety even if you’re a first-timer. In addition, you can hike through the various trails in the area – all of which lead to countless lookout points and attractions such as castles and mountain parks. But if you’re more of the laidback kind of person, you can simply stay at the Waldbar near the treehouse and camp around a bonfire while enjoying scrumptious meals or freshly-made bread and great beer. Here at the Stelzenhaus, there’s a suitable activity for you no matter which age bracket you belong to.
