Treehouse description

The Eyrie Family Treehouse is built like a huge safari tent right in the middle of the woods. It is about 8 meters off the ground and promotes eco-friendliness. Despite this, it is still quite comfortable for it has all the basic amenities that guests may need to ensure that they'll have a hassle-free stay, even though they will have to cater for themselves.

There is a queen-sized bed and a double bunk bed for sleeping, a fully-equipped kitchen for cooking and storing food that you can buy from the nearby village, a dining area with tables and chairs, a lounging area with a barbeque grill out on the veranda, and a fully working bathroom.

Before you come here, however, make sure that you bring your own charcoal and meat for grilling, books and magazine if you want to pass the time reading, binoculars to see the sights even more clearly and things for the beach just in case you may want to visit the coast.

Also bring your sense of fun and adventure too, because you'll most definitely need those here.

About the area

The Eyrie Family Treehouse is nestled in probably one of the most amazing locations in the world. And though it is quite isolated, it is still quite near to some wondrous scenic and tourist spots that you can check out during your stay.

One of them is the Outeniqua Nature Reserve which lies in the middle of a high-rainfall and a dry region. Due to this, it is home to quite a number of species – plants like proteas and ericas, for instance; and animals such as klipspringers, grey rhebucks, leopards, and eagles – that makes the whole area an ideal place for exploration and sightseeing.

Another place of note is the Goukamma Nature Reserve that is a short drive from the treehouse. It consists of an area of about 2500 hectares with a 14-kilometer coastline and a 1.8-kilometer marine protected area. In here, you can go canoeing, swimming, hiking, and watch various wild animals ranging from vervet monkeys and fish eagles to dolphins and whales to penguins even!

Then there’s Knysna right smack in the middle of rainforests and the sea which offers a lot of activities and attractions catering to people of all ages like golfing, mountaineering or paragliding. Also, there’s plenty of fine restaurants, taverns, pubs, and shops in the area too that anyone will find more than satisfactory.

Aside from those, you can also visit Sedgefield itself and browse through their Saturday Morning Market which showcases the talent of local crafters. You’ll definitely find a lot of goodies in there like unusual art pieces as well as some exceptionally delicious food.

Most definitely, staying at the Eyrie Family Treehouse will be more than worth it with all the things you can do within and outside of it.

    Great and breathtaking!

Being so close to nature, having all the privacy you can ask for was what I expected and the experience was all that and much more. The accommodation is great and the beautiful views of the forest is breathtaking. Would recommend staying there any time.
