Treehouse summary
The tree house lodge at Schrems is found within the Hochmoor Shrems nature park and it fits perfectly in its natural surroundings. The design focused on the natural elements of the forest including the water pools of the former quarry, the oak, beech, and pine trees of the forest, the wild cherry trees, the stonewalls, the sunken road, and the birch grove.
The tree house is a luxurious place to stay; the designer focused on the natural environment when planning the tree houses but also wanted to ensure that guests would be able to find all the luxuries they need. The tree house is not suitable for children and accommodates two adults.
Treehouse description
The tree house has all solid wood furniture, large glass doors and panels, and large showers. It also has a large terrace that provides a lot of privacy. These are perfect for summer afternoons. For winter, there is a furnace in the tree house so guests can make a fire.
There is a Naturparkzentrum or nature centre in the forest and the Waldviertel ponds for visitors to enjoy. The Naturparkzentrum underwater garden is the visitor center of the nature park Hochmoor Schrems. At the water garden, the focus is on the Waldviertel ponds, the friendly otters, and the bogs. A relaxed walk through the bog of Schrems is highly recommended. Visitors can climb the sky ladder right at the entrance of the natural park Hochmoor Schrems in good weather. This has over 108 steps and leads to a platform height of 20 meters, which offers a breath-taking view of the whole resort. The quarry is stunning and its seven-metre high walls drop down into a dark mirror-like surface of the pond that has formed in the deserted space. There is also a chance to visit the Schrems brewery to sample local beers or visitors can visit the Waldviertel shoe workshop of Heini Staudinger.
