Treehouse summary
Imagine living in a treehouse on a remote island that has an amazing view of the sea without work to cloud your mind or noisy traffic to disrupt your thoughts. Imagine seeing fireflies as you lounge around the balcony at night and getting lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves crashing into the shore. Those are exactly what you'll get if you stay at the Moja treehouse.
Set atop an immense baobab tree in a tropical island a few kilometers off the coast of Tanzania, Moja is sure to have everything your heart desires especially if you've been raring to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It has stunning and relaxing views, much-needed privacy, great island food, and enough activities to keep you entertained.
Treehouse description
The first thing you need to know about Moja is that it has no electricity. Notwithstanding, you don't have to worry about a thing because it is very comfortable. It has a king-sized bed, a working toilet, and showers with hot water. Also, it has a very spacious deck that is perfect for lounging around. Though quite simple, it is a very beautiful place that gives you a true island feeling. Like we said, it is for those who want to get away from all the distractions of modern-day living.
Another important thing of note is that the treehouse is run by owners and staff who are the epitome of hospitality and efficiency. They will not only ensure that your stay will be as hassle-free as possible, but serve you with great food made from the freshest ingredients as well -- which is probably one of the main reasons why this place has continually been receiving rave reviews over the years from all those who came here and those who keep coming back.

How to get there
Reaching Moja is quite easy. All you have to do is take a plane from virtually anywhere in Tanzania to Mafia Island and drive to Utende where the boat to Chole Mjini is docked. There are regular flights and boats so you won’t have to worry. Note though that since Moja is located on an island that is in the middle of the Mafia Marine Park, you have to pay $10 per person upon entry.
About the area
Moja is in the heart of the Mafia Island Marine Park which has breathtaking reefs and dive sites, thus, SCUBA diving is an activity you could try out anytime you wish to. And since owners Jean and Anne are both PADI Dive Masters and biologists, they can tailor dives specifically for you or your group and personally introduce you to the wonders that the sea around Chole Mjini offers. Besides SCUBA diving, there are hosts of other things you could experience around here as well. You can go snorkeling and turtle hatching; watch and swim with whale sharks; sunbathe and have picnics on the sandbar; island hop and sail into the sunset; or visit the nearby Chole Village and Popo Park. It’s amazing how much you can do even when there’s no electricity, right?
Treehouse owner
Anne
Chole Mjini is a treehouse beach lodge tucked into the small island of Chole centred in the Mafia Island Marine Park Tanzania. Activities are marine based with options for snorkelling, diving, swimming, sailing, SUPs, picnics and walks. Lounging, eating, birdwatching, reading all take you away from the modern world and bring back nature to your soul.
