Are you looking for a place where you can spend time with your loved ones for real and not get distracted by modern technology such as phones, televisions, and the internet? Then you should definitely book Mbili for your next vacation.
Perched on top of a majestic baobab tree, Mbili is a cabin unlike any other. It has sweeping views of the sea, cool breezes day in and day out, and close proximity to wonderful activities such as whale shark watching and SCUBA diving that you and your companions will truly enjoy.
And if that's not enough, this cabin is run by a very accommodating family. Not only will they help you out with anything that you might need, but also make your stay more than interesting.
Mbili is a two-level cabin that is completely devoid of technology since the owners believe in using it only when necessary. But you need not worry for even if Mbili has no electricity, it is still very charming and comfortable. It has two double beds which have wonderful views of the surroundings, a working toilet, and its own open-air yet private bathing area that is supplied with hot water.
A stay here will be truly remarkable, owing perhaps to the fact that it is one of the few places on Earth where you can truly get close to nature, your companions, and yourself. Just ask anyone who came here. It hasn't been receiving rave reviews over the years for nothing, you know.
How to get there
Reaching Mbili is quite easy. All you have to do is take a plane from virtually anywhere in Tanzania to Mafia Island and drive to Utende where the boat to Chole Mjini is docked. There are regular flights and boats so you won’t have to worry. Note though that since Mbili is located on an island that is in the middle of the Mafia Marine Park, you have to pay $10 per person upon entry.
About the area
Mbili is in the heart of the Mafia Island Marine Park which has breathtaking reefs and dive sites, thus, SCUBA diving is an activity you could try out anytime you wish to. And since owners Jean and Anne are both PADI Dive Masters and biologists, they can tailor dives specifically for you or your group and personally introduce you to the wonders that the sea around Chole Mjini offers. Besides SCUBA diving, there are hosts of other things you could experience around here as well. You can go snorkeling and turtle hatching; watch and swim with whale sharks; sunbathe and have picnics on the sandbar; island hop and sail into the sunset; or visit the nearby Chole Village and Popo Park. It’s amazing how much you can do even when there’s no electricity, right?
Chole Mjini is a treehouse beach lodge tucked into the small island of Chole centred in the Mafia Island Marine Park Tanzania. Activities are marine based with options for snorkelling, diving, swimming, sailing, SUPs, picnics and walks. Lounging, eating, birdwatching, reading all take you away from the modern world and bring back nature to your soul.

Such a special place
It was a place made for relaxing and introspection. The location was rich with natural elements, historical elements, and culture elements all on one small island. The property and the owners and staff were amazing as well as the food.

A special place on a beautiful Island
This is a very special place. Wonderful treehouses located on a small island. Anne is a wonderful host who can tell you a lot about the history of this place and all the social work they are involved in. You can choose from many activities, from stand-up paddling, to snorkelling, diving or relaxing with a picnic on a wonderful sandbank. It was a wonderful stay.
