Perched on top of a majestic baobab tree, Mbili is a cabin unlike any other. It has sweeping views of the sea, cool breezes day in and day out, and close proximity to wonderful activities such as whale shark watching and SCUBA diving that you and your companions will truly enjoy.

Mbili is a two-level cabin that is completely devoid of technology since the owners believe in using it only when necessary. But you need not worry for even if Mbili has no electricity, it is still very charming and comfortable. It has two double beds which have wonderful views of the surroundings, a working toilet, and its own open-air yet private bathing area that is supplied with hot water.
A stay here will be truly remarkable, owing perhaps to the fact that it is one of the few places on Earth where you can truly get close to nature, your companions, and yourself. Just ask anyone who came here. It hasn't been receiving rave reviews over the years for nothing, you know.

How to get there
Reaching Mbili is quite easy. All you have to do is take a plane from virtually anywhere in Tanzania to Mafia Island and drive to Utende where the boat to Chole Mjini is docked. There are regular flights and boats so you won’t have to worry. Note though that since Mbili is located on an island that is in the middle of the Mafia Marine Park, you have to pay $10 per person upon entry.
About the area
Mbili is in the heart of the Mafia Island Marine Park which has breathtaking reefs and dive sites, thus, SCUBA diving is an activity you could try out anytime you wish to. And since owners Jean and Anne are both PADI Dive Masters and biologists, they can tailor dives specifically for you or your group and personally introduce you to the wonders that the sea around Chole Mjini offers. Besides SCUBA diving, there are hosts of other things you could experience around here as well. You can go snorkeling and turtle hatching; watch and swim with whale sharks; sunbathe and have picnics on the sandbar; island hop and sail into the sunset; or visit the nearby Chole Village and Popo Park. It’s amazing how much you can do even when there’s no electricity, right?
